Stein Kretsinger:
An alumnus of University of Virginia with degrees in Economics and
Engineering Mr. Kretsinger started his career directing statistical
marketing techniques for Capital One. He subsequently caught the internet
entrepreneurial bug and became a founding executive of Advertising.com which
was recently purchased by AOL/Time Warner. Mr. Kretsinger now serves on
the boards of several young companies based in the US and China. He is a
determined visionary compelled to pioneer. Stein is an avid outdoor
enthusiast and has traveled much of the world's coastlines to surf,
windsurf, kayak, and sail.
Robert Weinman:
In 1997, Mr. Weinman together with his brother James Weinman, completed a successful, unsupported ski descent of Mt. McKinley (Denali), which earned them a mention in Outside Magazine. Mr. Weinman, an educator; is also an avid writer, mountaineer, climber, snowboarder and windsurfer. The Beach Walk Project for Mr. Weinman is putting into action his belief that play and adventure in the outdoors inherently encourages children to become proactive environmental stewards of where they live and play in the future. Mr. Weinman grew up spending his summers on Lake George, NY and graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY.
Evelyn Prog-Weinman:
Evelyn, born and raised on the island of Guam is a professional chef and caterer, and operates the Island Chamorrita catering company in Oregon. Specializing in all Pacific Islander food including Guam and the Philippines, Evelyn will be driving the Beach Walk Project escort vehicle and will be organizing all public relations events. She will also keep the team and participants well fed on BBQ, tropical salads, and other beachside fare.

New York State
The Lake George Waterkeeper is located near the childhood home of Robert Weinman in Lake George, New York. The mission of the Lake George Waterkeeper is to defend the natural public trust resources of Lake George and its basin, which provide for the common good of the watershed and community. The program embodies true proactive work which accomplishes lake protection in a cost-effective way by preventing environmental damage and avoiding the huge expense of remediation and repair.
NY/NJ Baykeeper The Baykeeper's mission is to protect, preserve, and restore the ecological integrity and productivity of the Hudson-Raritan Estuary - the most urban estuary on the planet. Since 1989, we have served as citizen advocate for the Estuary's bays, streams, and shores. Baykeeper stops polluters, champions public access, influences land use decisions, and restores habitat - benefiting the natural and human communities of our watershed.
Oregon
Columbia Riverkeeper is located in Hood River, Oregon. The mission of the Columbia Riverkeeper is to restore and protect the water quality of the Columbia River and all life connected to it, from the headwaters to the Pacific Ocean.
Florida
Indian Riverkeeper is located in Jensen Beach, Florida. The mission of the Indian Riverkeeper is to protect and restore the waters of North America's most diverse estuary, the Indian River Lagoon, its tributaries, fisheries and habitats through advocacy, enforcement and citizen action.
South Carolina
Waccamaw Riverkeeper is located in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The mission of the Waccamaw Riverkeeper in collaboration with the Winyah Rivers Foundation is to protect, monitor and revitalize the health of the lands and waters of the greater Winyah Bay watershed, focusing on local activism.
North Carolina
North Carolina Coastal Federation is located throughout North Carolina and now has three COASTKEEPERS on the job patrolling our coastal waters. The COASTKEEPERS are full-time advocates who are dedicated solely to protecting our coast. They include the Coastkeepers of Cape Lookout, Cape Fear, and Cape Hatteras. NCCF Executive Director Todd Miller explains, "Part of our long range goal is to serve all of coastal North Carolina. In order to do this, we must have a strong and active presence in the three major coastal regions." Although inclement weather prevented the Beach Walk Project from participating in an event with the Coastkeepers of Norht Carolina, we encourage you to look into and support this very pro-active and effective alliance of waterkeepers.
Virginia
Virginia Eastern Shorekeeper was established in August 2002, for the general purpose of protecting, preserving, and improving the quality of tidal waters of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. As the Virginia Eastern Shorekeeper, Richard Ayers already knows there is work to be done. “Folks that live, work or play on the water know when something is out of place. I can take their concerns and help determine if our local waters are being threatened,” said Richard. With projects like the volunteer Creek Watchers, local landowner education, water quality monitoring and on-the-water patrols, the Shorekeeper can investigate citizen complaints and alert the proper agencies before real damage to the environment occurs.
Maryland
Assateague Coastkeeper is located near Assateague Island, Maryland. The Assateague CoastKeeper is an on-the-water, privately funded advocate for the coastal bays. The mission of the program is to protect the quality of the coastal bays for generations to come.The five coastal bays behind Ocean City and Assateague Island in Maryland and Virginia are threatened by a multitude of environmental stresses. As more and more people move to the coastal bays watershed, the natural charms that attracted them in the first place -- the abundance of crabs and flounder, the expanse of safe, flat waters, the sandy beaches -- face increased dangers of pollution from new development, stormwater runoff, loss of shoreline buffers, loss of wetland and added stress of increased boat traffic.

Underwater World Aquarium UnderWater World's Education Programs are designed to increase public awareness and knowledge of our planet's coral reefs, oceans, and the animals that depend on them. Through this we hope to promote individual responsibility and stewardship for the continued well-being of our environement.
Guam Kayak and Canoe Federation promotes the strong cultural heritage of outrigger canoeing through education, training programs, club support and the organization of regional events.
Alupang Beach Club - Guam is located in the heart of beautiful East Agana Bay. Alupang Beach Club is Guam’s first and foremost marine sports company. ABC continues to be a key player in Guam’s efforts to protect the future of our environment. ABC participates in joint programs with various local organizations such as the University of Guam Marine Laboratory and has made contributions to the community through their involvement in community projects with Guam Chamber of Commerce, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Port Authority of Guam, and Department of Parks & Recreation.
Jeff's Pirates Cove Jeff's Pirates Cove is a must see for all visitors to Guam. View our photo gallery for our visit. The Cove offers recreational activities ranging from fishing to a historical museum containing artificats from both WWII and ancient Chamorro Culture. Guam Fisherman's Co-op The Guam Fisherman's Cooperative Association is located at the Greg D. Perez Hagatna Marina, across from the Chamorro Village. It consists of a full scale retail outlet that carries all of your fresh fish needs. Thanks to the Cooperative for helping coordinate our escort boat and supplies for the North Passage on April 1st, 2008.
Fiesta Resort-Guam Fiesta Resort Guam, located directly on Tumon Bay, features an ideal location for any vacation. Indeed, living by the beach side is the closest one can get to paradise. Especially, if it's at Tumon Bay in Guam where the sand is pristine white, the water a heavenly hue of blue, forming an idyllic picture that stretches as far as the eye can see. Much thanks to General Manager Jeffrey Schweizer for assisting on the accommodations during the initial week of our Guam venture.
Guam Hotel and Restaraunt Association The Guam Hotel and Restaurant association will strive to be an active corporate citizen in the community and work with others to improve the overall quality of life in the Island of Guam. Its primary purposes are to: promote the highest standards of service and quality in the hotels and restaurants on Guam; advocate just legislation and governmental regulations governing the conduct of business; improve business-community relations through positive interactions with Guam's citizenry; and publicize the value and benefits of the island's visitor industry to the territory's economy. Shake-a-Leg Miami is program designed to enable those with physical, developmental, and economic challenges to empower themselves. To provide a gateway to Biscayne Bay for one and all. This is Shake-A-Leg Miami.
Miami 2 Maine Margo Pellegrino, a young woman from New Jersey is making a solo outrigger cruise up the east coast from Miami to Camden, Maine begining in May. Margo invites paddlers with ocean going boats to paddle along with her to bring attention to one of the most critical problems the entire world faces – the future of our oceans.
Atlantic Coast Kayak has been South Florida's premier outfitter since 1989 - teaching classes, operating guided tours, and uniting paddler and craft.
Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex is located in Boca Raton at Red Reef Park on the barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway and offers a variety of nature programs that appeal to all ages.
Loggerhead Marine Center is a 501(c)3-sea turtle rehabilitation & education campus located on the ocean in Palm Beach County, Florida USA. The campus houses an exhibit, live sea turtles and other coastal creatures. Mission: To promote conservation of Florida's coastal ecosystem through education, research and rehabilitation, with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles.
Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge is located in Hobe Sound, Florida. The center is an excellent center offering educational programs for school groups and organizations.
Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.
O.N.E. WildWorld is located near Indian River Lagoon, Florida. The mission of the O.N.E. WildWorld is to protect the environment surrounding the Indian River Lagoon and the Treasure Coast. The organization offers charitable services, for organizing and conducting Volunteer programs and community service projects and featuring information about Volunteer opportunities in the field of stewardship and conservation of rivers, beaches, the ocean and wildlife.
Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.
The Marine Resources Council is located in Palm Bay, Florida. The MRC currently runs nine environmental programs including: Lagoon Watch, Shoreline Restoration, Northern Right Whale Monitoring, and Boaters for a Healthy Lagoon. Their specialized library is also open to the public.
Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Reserve The GTMNERR Environmental Education Center provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to receive hands-on environmental education and natural resource interpretation. Inside of the 21,000 square foot Environmental Education Center is an exhibit hall, aquariums, nature store, research laboratory, classrooms, meeting rooms and offices. Thanks to Janet and the great staff members, Cat and Angie for a great program with the kids on the beach.
The Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve is located on the western perimeter of Sapelo. SINERR is dedicated to research, education, stewardship, and sound management of coastal resources in Georgia. Specifically, we focus on the natural, cultural, and historical resources of Sapelo Island and the Duplin River estuary.
The East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival is held every April on James Island State Park in Charleston, SC. The festival includes: Classroom presentations, On-Water Classes, and Commercial Exhibitors. This year Beach Walk Project had the honor of presenting on Friday evening and participating in some of the on-water courses provided by H2Outfitters.
Ripley's Aquarium is located in Myrtle Beach, SC. Ripley’s Aquarium Marine Science Camps are interactive, innovative, and entertaining. With a variety of day, week and overnight camps available, campers can enjoy the thrill of swimming with sharks and rays, learning to scuba dive, traveling and exploring marine life in the open ocean, local parks and wetlands, and much more!
North Carolina Aquariums operate three facilities located on Roanoke Island, at Pine Knoll Shores, and at Fort Fisher. The Aquariums were established in 1976 to promote an awareness, understanding, appreciation, and conservation of the diverse natural and cultural resources associated with North Carolina's ocean, estuaries, rivers, streams, and other aquatic environments. Coast Kids is an environmental education program sponsored by Assateague Coastal Trust. The mission of the program is to help children develop a sense of place - a geographical and ecological awareness that will encourage greater enjoyment of where they live, enhanced interest in the environment, and ultimately, increased stewardship of the coastal bays of Delmarva.
